Vaisala News issue 161 was published January 22, 2003. The magazine is dedicated to weather observation products and systems. The cover story introduces the new Vaisala RS92 radiosonde platform. The magazine also introduces the new Vaisala DigiCORA tethersonde system for boundary layer observations, the Vaisala MIDAS IV LLWAS Low Level Wind shear Alert system and AVAPS Lite Dropsonde System.

Customer cases discussed in this issue include for instance BOM’s offshore AWSs installations off the east coast of Australia and use of automated weather stations in restoring the land after a wildfire in Colorado as well as the WODA system at Helsinki-Vantaa aiport. Moreover, traffic weather applications are discussed in two articles. The Vaisala Environmental Management System which has been certified to ISO EN 14001 is presented in this issue of Vaisala News.
